Energy Consuption Crisis...

FACT: By leaving a TV on standby you can save up to 17 rials a year on energy consumption

FACT: If you boil the kettle regularly throughout the day you will probably spend around 44rials every year

Energy is produced by burning fossil fuels in a power plant however this creates CO2 and other greenhouse gases that damage the environment and create Global Warming. Oman is a main distributer of oil and gas but as you know, supplies won't last forever. It's now time to conserve what energy we can and therefore shorten the time span of this fuel. By doing this we can create more time to reasearch efficient and economic renewable energy sources such as wind power, solar power, hydroelectric etc.

How long do you keep your AC on each day?

Do you turn the lights off when you leave a room?

Do you car pool to conserve petrol?

Do you take the bus when you can?

Do you unplug appliances or turn off the switch when not using it?

Do you heat your water constantly even in summer when your not using it?

These are all ways you can help to conserve energy and therefore reduce the pollution which is circling in our atmosphere due to large amounts of energy production.

Rubbish, trash, litter, garbage, refuse, worthless material ...

FACT: The average person throws away about 2kg of rubbish per day!!

Have you ever walked along the beach in Oman with the crashing waves and sun reflecting golden rays of light up into the bright blue sky, feeling the sand shift between your toes? Don't you love it? Then why do we see rubbish littering our beaches and ruining the perfect scene?

It's so easy to just pick up a couple of pieces of litter each time as well as your own ... it may not be much but if we all picked up a few pieces of litter the beach would be a better place. Remember the only thing you should leave is footprints

Ever swam with a turtle elegantly gliding along or been to Turtle Beach to see them laying their eggs and watch the little baby turtles skuttling into the sea? Turtles are as much a national icon in Oman as the oryx and we should treasure them just the same.

However you remember all those plastic bags you threw away or 'accidentally' left on the beach? Well turtles mistake them for jellyfish which are their main food source and choke to death! Think before you throw!
